Opening Ceremonies Information
To All Highland Dancing Associations and Teachers: Saskatoon Highland Dancing Association is very proud and excited to be co-hosting the ScotDance Championship Series July 2010. This event is being hosted in the Saskatoon Field House, an indoor track where Olympic athletes such as Donavon Bailey have made appearances. With Canada being the proud host of the 2010 Winter Olympics we thought we would theme our event in a similar fashion. Therefore the SDCCS 2010 Opening Ceremonies on July 7th will include a ‘TEAM PARADE’ featuring ALL DANCERS!! ALL DANCERS are asked to wear their full kilts and a team jacket of some sort for the Opening Ceremonies. Provincial Representatives will lead each province onto the track in their the rep jackets designated by their province. All other dancers are asked to wear a Highland dance team jacket of some nature, either from their local association, dance school or group. Dancers who are unable to wear a team jacket are asked to wear their full kilts and have a small provincial flag to waive at the crowd. To show our pride and enthusiasm, the Saskatoon Highland Dancing Association has ordered team jackets for Saskatoon dancers, teachers, and parents, to be worn at the opening ceremonies. SHDA is inviting other associations to offer these team jackets to your members. The jackets can be ordered from MEE Sports in Saskatoon. (Note: the 2008 Canadian Edinburgh Military Tattoo Dance team ordered their team uniforms from MEE Sports) Questions? Contact Christine Hanna at: the.hannas@sasktel.net.
